A lot has been written about the Second Brain…but what exactly is it ? If you’ve ever felt butterflies in your stomach before giving a speech you’ve experienced the impact of this second nervous system !

The enteric nervous system is based in the gastro-intestinal tract and is an almost autonomous neural network with up to 600 million neurons! It’s function is to control the behavior and overall management of the gut. It has a kind of local government control and can perform many functions without needing to redirect to the brain. This is why it’s sometimes called the Second Brain! The gut-brain connection is important because it relates to our physical and mental health, how we respond to stress and our immunity. A lot of medical conditions like anxiety, depression, irritable bowel syndrome, autism and Parkinson’s disease present with both symptoms of the brain and gut.

The Lower abdominal area is known as our bio-battery, the sea of primal energy. So unblocking energy here, charging this area and  safely storing large amounts of this primal life force is vital. One can overheat if too much energy is kept in the head. The circuit can blow, resulting in headaches, insomnia and difficulties with mental health. Simple breathing practices can soothe your nervous system and increase energy flow.
